Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes. Gifyar is free, requires no sign-up and adds no watermarks to your GIFs. If you find it useful, you can support the project with an optional donation.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your videos and images are processed on your own device, inside the browser, and are never sent to any server. That is also why it is fast.

What is the maximum size?

GIFs can be up to 1080 px wide. The maximum length depends on the width and frames per second: for example, about 5 minutes at 480 px and 10 FPS, or about 40 seconds at 1080 px and 15 FPS. For sharing in chats and social media, short clips of a few seconds work best.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in your phone’s browser with nothing to install: pick a video from your gallery, edit it with your finger and share the GIF straight from the app.
